How the Patient Search Screen Drives Your Daily Practice Flow
The Patient Search screen is the first thing a provider sees after logging into the ChiroTouch Provider application, and it serves as the central hub from which every patient interaction begins. Whether you are pulling up chart notes, reviewing diagnoses, adjusting a treatment plan, or processing charges, this single screen is where the day's clinical and administrative work takes shape. For office managers who coordinate multiple providers across treatment rooms, it is the dashboard that sets the rhythm of the clinic. Taking a few minutes to understand its layout, filters, and status indicators can eliminate the small delays that compound across a busy schedule.
The Display drop-down menu lets you narrow the patient list to match your current task. A front desk coordinator might select Checked In Patients to see exactly who is waiting and in which room, while a provider might switch to My Checked In to focus solely on their own caseload. The Look Up By field adds another layer of precision, allowing searches by account number, first or last name, checked-in time, or scheduled time. In a high-volume practice, toggling between All Patients and Scheduled Patients at the start of a shift gives every team member a clean, focused starting point rather than scrolling through a long, unfiltered list.
One of the most practical features on this screen is the room-management workflow. When a patient checks in, the Room column displays their assigned treatment room, and the Room button lets staff reassign a patient if a schedule change or room conflict arises. Once the provider marks the appointment complete, the column updates to "Done," which simultaneously alerts the front desk Patient Flow screen that the visit has ended. If any required data—diagnoses, charges, or chart notes—has not yet been entered, it appears in red below the patient list. This visual flag is a straightforward but effective checkpoint that helps office managers catch incomplete records before a patient leaves the building.
For ChiroTouch support staff and practice owners evaluating the platform, the Patient Search screen also reveals how the system structures the provider-to-patient relationship. The distinction between "My" filters and global filters means each clinician sees a personalized queue while front desk personnel retain a practice-wide view. This dual perspective keeps providers focused on clinical tasks and keeps administrative staff aware of the full room flow. When paired with the broader ChiroTouch ecosystem—online scheduling, digital intake forms, and the CT Engage communication dashboard—the Patient Search screen becomes the operational anchor that ties scheduling, documentation, and checkout into a single, coherent workflow for the entire team.
